Moroccans Outside the Gender box

Moroccans Outside the Gender box is a film campaign created by Kasbah Tal’fin for freedom and equality to showcase resilient Moroccan youth and women who challenged gender roles in Morocco.

The project was filmed in August 2021 in the cities of Agadir, Marrakech and Casablanca and aims to foster powerful diverse visibility, and create discourse in a safe space for young Moroccans concerned by the impact of heteronormativity and gender roles on achieving gender and sexual diversity and equality in Morocco.

Take a look into the unique contributions of each participant in Moroccan society, showcasing how they actively challenge gender norms in their daily lives while playing a crucial role in shaping and enriching the fabric of Moroccan society. These recordings from Moroccans Outside the Gender Box delve into their perspectives on various questions, including:

  • How do you conceptualize and define gender roles?
  • What factors contribute to the existence of gender roles?
  • What was your most significant challenge with gender roles?
  • How did you overcome challenges associated with gender roles?
  • Do gender roles contribute to gender inequality?
  • What advice do you offer to those confronting gender roles?
  • How do you use art to challenge gender norms?
  • What message do you have for young people

We hope that these videos provide a compelling and positive representation of the work being done by these young Moroccan leaders and raise awareness and support for their causes.
